Time: 1-3 pm
Instructor: Patrick McAndrew
You know what you’re trying to say.
But it doesn’t always land.
This course is for people who want more connection in how they communicate, especially when they’re sharing their point of view.
Often, what feels clear and true on the inside doesn’t translate to the person across from us.
This course is about learning how to bridge that gap.
- know your own perspective before bringing others into it
- recognize how others are receiving what you say
- adapt how you communicate without losing what matters to you
What we’ll focus on over the six weeks:
Weeks 1–2: Inner Stability
We start with inner stability because your state is the delivery system. When you are scattered, tense, or racing, your message gets diluted, and people feel the strain even if your words are right. These two weeks build the ability to center quickly so you communicate with steadiness, clarity, and credibility.
- Grounding and centering practices so you can stabilize yourself before you speak
- Releasing tension that blocks expression, especially throat, jaw, chest, and belly
- Voice and breath warm-ups so your words come out clean and supported
Weeks 3–4: Storytelling
Once you have steadiness inside, we add storytelling because it is how people connect deeply. Story creates empathy and shared context, so your point of view is not just heard, it is felt. These two weeks will also expand your emotional range so you can choose the right tone for the moment and move people without forcing anything.
- Using short stories to communicate your point of view
- Practicing POV stories that make your meaning memorable and human
- Expanding emotional range so you are not stuck in one default tone
- Working with tone, posture, and emotional texture so your message carries beyond the words
Weeks 5–6: Framing
In the final two weeks, we focus on framing, which is how you structure your message. You learn to speak your point of view in language that fits the listener, without watering it down or over-explaining. This is what allows your ideas to travel across different personalities, relationships, and rooms.
- Learning to notice the other person’s point of view and what they care about
- Practicing multiple ways to say the same thing so it can land in different contexts
- Becoming aware of your language habits and the worldview behind them
- Building flexibility so you stay connected while holding your position
The goal of this class is to help you express your point of view while staying connected to the people you’re speaking with. The focus is on how you communicate in your everyday life.
