How you express yourself to clients\, employees\, investors\, and collaborators shapes how people receive you. \n\n\nThis is a four-session program that gives you the skills to communicate more effectively across all of the environments and scenarios where it matters. You’ll learn to say less and land more\, to be comfortable in high-stakes conversations\, and to express yourself in a way that people take in. \n\n\nThe work is hands-on. You practice with real scenarios from your own business\, alongside other owners working through the same things. \n\nWHAT YOU’LL DEVELOP\n\nOver four sessions\, you move through a progression: \n\n\nCommunication Clarity One of the ways we get in our own way is trying to figure out what we’re saying while we’re saying it. When you know your point before you walk into the room\, everything moves more fluidly — the conversation\, the pitch\, the meeting. You’ll learn how to get clear on what you’re trying to express so that when you speak\, it’s simple\, direct\, and easy for others to hold on to. \n\n\nActive Listening Most miscommunication isn’t a speaking problem; it’s a listening problem. You’ll develop the ability to hear what people are actually saying\, not just what you expect them to say. When your clients and your team feel heard\, they trust you more\, they share more\, and the quality of every conversation goes up. \n\n\nCollaboration The best ideas don’t come from one person. They come from the space between people when the communication is right. You’ll learn how to create that space: how to build on what others bring\, how to make room for input without losing direction\, and how to move a group toward a decision without forcing it. \n\n\nAdaptability Every room is different. You’ll develop the ability to read what a situation asks for and adjust how you communicate\, without losing what’s true for you. Develop the ability to make premise-based initiations that help jump start your scene. Build on the fundamentals of creating a base reality (who\, what\, where) and emotional reality. Revisit and heighten scenes later in the set with second beats. SUMMARY:Summer Youth Improv Theater Camp
DESCRIPTION:This all-levels improv theater camp\, led by SFI instructor\, Kristin Larsen\, will focus on the heart of long-form improvisation\, the two-person scene. This one-week session is centered on grounded\, authentic two-person scene work. We focus on two main elements: establishing a base reality (the who\, what\, and where)\, and the emotional reality of the scene (what is the character’s relationship to themselves and to the environment around them).\n\nWe also touch on how to edit a scene and do support work through walk-ons and tag-outs. Improvisers learn how to become comfortable playing themselves on stage and draw inspiration from their real-life experiences. \n\n\nThis camp is suitable for youths between the ages of 11 and 15 years of age or rising 6th-10th graders. \n\n\nDates: Monday\, July 21-Friday\, July 25\, 2025\, daily. \n\n\nTimes: Drop off between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Pick up between 12:30 and 1 p.m. Class time will run roughly from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.\, followed by a snack break\, and continue from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. \n\n\nParents must come into the theater to sign their teen in and out. Students should bring healthy snacks and a big bottle of water. \n\n\nParents are invited to come and view their students on the final day of camp at the theater Friday\, July 25\, from 11:30-12:30 p.m. \n\n\nCost: $275. \n\n\nAll waivers\, releases\, and information requested during registration due upon purchase of the class\, which may be online only\, through our website. Students are encouraged to bring a short poem\, sonnet\, or extract from prose—One page of text max—that inspires them. The text is a tool only as we use words\, sound\, and movement to access our voice in new ways.\n \nFreeing vocal expression is critical as an artist and as a human. A free voice\, an expressed self…not necessarily beautiful. But instead\, raw and real.  A connected voice allows the human to move more clearly in the world\, and the actor\, with more presence and certainty. \n \nJoin Lucy for a two hour exploration into the world of vocal expression. \n \nLucy River is an actor\, improv instructor\, and acting coach. Develop the ability to make premise-based initiations that help jump start your scene. Build on the fundamentals of creating a base reality (who\, what\, where) and emotional reality. Revisit and heighten scenes later in the set with second beats. DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, beginning January 12th\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Class Time: 1-3 pm\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				8 weeks\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Instructor: Eric Weiss\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nSundays\, January 12th- March 9th (no class February 9th)Time: 1-3 pm \nInstructor: Eric Weiss \n\n \n\nIt begins like a monoscene: a suggestion is given by the audience\, and a scene then commences that cannot be sweep-edited. Once this scene has been established\, however\, the use of tag edits is permitted to explore short tangential games or scenes. Each of these tangents is eventually sweep edited\, which returns the action to the source scene. These tangents can be thought of as the “petals” extending out from the source scene. In this way\, Pretty Flower is a Monoscene in chapters\, periodically broken up by short montages.\n \n \nThe tangent sections often lend themselves to faster\, goofier play through tag runs or character games. The source scene is a counterbalance to this\, as it is commonly taught as a more grounded\, slow-moving section of the show.\n \n\nIt will be fun. \n  \n\nPrerequisite: completion of SFI Level 5 or permission from the Artistic Director\n\n			\n				Get Tickets
