This class is centered on grounded\, authentic two-person scene work. \nWe focus on two main elements: establishing a base reality (the who\, what\, and where) and the emotional reality of the scene (what is the character’s relationship to themselves and to the environment around them?) \nWe also touch on how to edit a scene and do support work through walk-ons and tag outs. Improvisers learn how to become comfortable playing themselves on stage and draw inspiration from their real-life experiences. \n\n\nNo prerequisites or experience necessary. Adults only. She got her first job writing and performing for The Mission Theater directed by TJ and Dave. At Second City she was a member of the national touring company for three years. She then wrote and performed in five sketch revues at Second City Chicago. She is currently a director for the Second City touring company as well as a teacher at Logan Square improv- where she performs with her favorite team\, Real Angels! She has appeared on Chicago Med\, Chicago PD\, Easy\, and The Bear. \nMIKE BRUNLIEB is a performing and teaching artist in Chicago. He improvises with the ensembles ‘Sand’\, ‘Real Angels’\, and ‘3 Actors Living in a Cave’\, most often performing at the wonderful Logan Square Improv theater (check them out!). Mike has received multiple awards during his fifteen years of performing and teaching improvisation\, including being recognized three years in a row as one of Chicago’s top improvisers by the iO theater. He studied at the Paul Sills Theater Game Center (and beyond) with Aretha Sills and Carol Sills\, and at iO Chicago with TJ Jagodowski and Dave Pasquesi. He has performed and taught improvisation internationally in Europe\, Asia\, and Canada. Mike has also performed in a handful of TV and film projects\, including “Southside” (HBO)\, “Joe Pera Talks with You” (Adult Swim)\, and “Trial of the Chicago Seven” (Netflix). \nJENELLE CHEYNE originally hails from Vancouver\, Canada. In her coaching and teaching work\, she believes in creating a safe and joyous environment for folks to play and refine their true comedic voice. She has also directed and coached in corporate spaces\, making her a fan favorite for both comedians and non-comedians alike.
