MASTER CLASS WITH WILL HINES: VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL HEIGHTENING

Sunday, May 12th: VERTICAL VS HORIZONTAL HEIGHTENING @11am-2pm
This class is about supporting a scene once it gets going. We’ll look at “vertical” heightening — repeat what’s going on already, except BIGGER. And then also the more elusive “horizontal” heightening (move to elsewhere in the world, follow the consequences, fill out the history that got us here). You need both kinds. This is a very improv nerdy but fun workshop in what to do once things get going!
Prerequisite: Students must have taken, or be currently taking, SFI’s Level Three (or higher) Improv classes at SFI (or those with equivalent improv experience).
Will has been teaching long-form improv since 2004 at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, at both its New York and Los Angeles branches. He’s published a best-selling book on improv called How to Be The Greatest Improviser on Earth. He’s also a working comedic actor and has appeared on many terrific television programs (Brooklyn 99) and on some big podcasts (Comedy Bang-Bang) as well as the 99 podcasts he’s produced himself (including Screw It We’re Just Gonna Talk about the Beatles) He’s also the founder of the audaciously-named World’s Greatest Improv School.
